After my mum’s stroke, we found ourselves needing a wheelchair and support to help her regain some independence and improve her quality of life. Due to the very long NHS waiting times, I decided to purchase a wheelchair privately, but I wanted to make sure it was the right choice and properly set up for her needs. Sally, the Occupational Therapist, was absolutely fantastic. She carried out a thorough assessment, helped with the wheelchair setup, and gave us advice and reassurance throughout the process. She went above and beyond what we expected and showed genuine care, patience, and understanding. The difference this has made to my mum’s comfort, confidence, and wellbeing has been enormous. Having the right equipment, correctly adjusted, has given her more opportunities to get out, spend time with family, and feel more involved again. I cannot recommend Sally and the company highly enough. Her professionalism, knowledge, and kindness were exceptional, and we are extremely grateful for all the help and support she has given my mum.

My experience with Sally was amazing. She really understood my disabilities where I have experienced misunderstanding in the past, and made me feel really comfortable. She was very accommodating to my needs, for example offering an initial video call instead of a phone call. We took things at my pace and at no point did I feel pressured in any way. Sally was able to come and see me in person multiple times, at no extra cost, for my assessment, powerchair trials, discussions about my quote, handover of my chair, and adjustments afterwards. I was even able to trial a chair over a weekend thanks to their rep at Sunrise! Sally worked with me to find the right chair for my needs and university lifestyle. One thing I really appreciated was the transparency of how much my chair was going to cost, we went through multiple quotes in detail. They don't get any commission from selling chairs which meant at no point did I feel like I had to buy anything and Sally helped get the cost down as much as possible while still meeting my requirements. Their one-off consultation fee covers everything, with no hidden costs, and is very cheap for the amazing service they provide. They can help with anything from a basic transit chair to a complex power or active chair. They will guide you through the whole process, from initial assessment to actually having your chair, making sure you understand everything. Overall, I felt very understood and supported. I cannot recommend The Wheelchair OTs more highly! I only discovered them after having a nightmare experience with a local well-known mobility shop who took full payment and then failed to deliver any of the goods ordered. Sally was an absolute godsend. I needed a specialist chair for a friend in a nursing home. She came to the home to meet and talk with him, fully assess his needs and take measurements, before recommending the best chair and cushion. When she returned with the right equipment, she spent the whole morning adjusting every aspect of the chair to ensure the fit was perfect and his comfort maximised. Full payment was only required when we were absolutely happy with everything. Sally is a fully trained and highly experienced occupational therapist who specialises in this field. She is the ultimate professional who takes as long as is needed to ensure the best service. Avoid the shops where staff just want to make a sale. Go to the Wheelchair OTs who are qualified and experienced specialists who put the customer's needs and comfort first.
Sally and Matt at the Wheelchair OTs were absolutely fantastic. After many years of dealing with public and private wheelchair services where I felt like I was never getting the right assessment or my needs met, these two were a breath of fresh air. I learnt so much from Sally at my initial assessment about my posture, support and pressure relieving. She had so much knowledge and also made me feel so comfortable. I also never felt pressured to buy a product, but felt like I could make an informed choice with all of the guidance they had given me. I felt in really safe hands. When there was a delay from the supplier, but I was desperate to have my new backrest before my wedding, Sally and Matt came at 8am on Saturday morning so I could have it in time. They were both amazing and would recommend to all wheelchair users looking for new equipment.
My mum needed a 'tilt in space' wheelchair, as her Alzheimer's condition had worsened. Sally came out to assess mum, but unfortunately mum was not able to be assessed as her medication had knocked her out. Sally was most accepting and simply said she would return on another day. No mention of wasted time or extra costs. She was able though to assess enough to know which type of chair mum would need. Sally returned at the weekend and mum was much more able to be assessed fully. The new chair was fitted with great care and detail, with a full and thorough explanation given to the care team and ourselves. We had chosen to opt for the hire in a fixed term contract to see how mum would get on before purchasing. Sadly mum passed away only a few weeks into the hire agreement. Sally & Matt were so kind and helpful during this sad time. They collected the wheelchair and even refunded a large portion of the prepaid hire costs. Sally & Matt have been amazing throughout. Professional, kind, efficient, knowledgeable and compassionate. They deserve 10 stars.

Sally was brilliant & the company ethos is to be accessible to all, so the one-off consultation fee covered all meetings, mileage & support calls. I had no clue who to book initially & who covered BERKS, so I would 💯 recommend Wheelchair OTs for their patience, professionalism & desire to do the very best by their client - to include working out of their normal catchment area & being empathetic towards the impact of my Mum's dementia. Their background in the NHS is the icing on the cake to understand a cross-section of individual situations & solutions.
